HUMAN FRAMES – A SERIES OF TEN FILM PROGRAMS
The film collection Human Frames is dedicated to the human being, the condition humaine and the various states of mind that accompany man on his journey through life. In the form of ten thematically compiled programmes with 99 works by contemporary artists and filmmakers from Europe and Asia that concentrate on themes such as – happiness, desire, madness, fanaticism, fear, anger, isolation, melancholy, mono no aware, and impermanence – the collection re-examines and illuminates human existence at the start of the twenty-first century. Human Frames intends to take account of the lively exchange of images and ideas between both continents and provides a well-founded insight into the video art and experimental film scenes. The result is a fascinating spectrum of artistic expression – bold experiments in sound and image, which coalesce in free association to form a vibrant portrait of humanity.
Human Frames is curated by Silke Schmickl, Stéphane Gérard, Masayo Kajimura, Victric Thng, François Michaud and presented by Lowave (Paris) in partnership with The Substation (Singapore), KIT-Kunst-im-Tunnel (Germany), and supported by the Asia Europe Foundation.
